My husband and I try to avoid clutter, but we also leave our Bibles in plain sight. It’s our way of reminding ourselves to open them more often—even if that means a messy stack of Bibles and notebooks on our couch or dining room table.
But to make this messy corner of our house a little more organized, I created a cute Bible study basket!
This idea originated from a blog post/instagram story I saw from the writer Phylicia Masonheimer about how to create a study corner in your home. If you want more tips, definitely check out her post!
All the Basics You Need to Create a Bible Study Basket + An Affiliate Disclaimer
I absolutely adore sharing my favorite items I use during Bible study and alike, so I thought I would make a big list to stick at the top of my blog for easy access.
As time goes on, and I undoubtedly find more products I love, I can add them to this list for you to gather inspiration from!
You might have also noticed that I have gotten into using affiliate links on my blog. I tried in the past, and unfortunately, I didn’t make enough sales. The heart behind my writing has never been profit.
But since I have a daughter on the way, I’m trying again to see if I can cover the extra coffee I’m going to need to continue writing, or even the annual $80 it takes to keep this site up. The latter is wishful thinking. 😅
I’ve been wanting to do a post like this for a while now, so what better time than when I still need to make three sales to lock in my ability to keep getting small commissions from Amazon whenever a reader buys something through one of my links? Not every single link in this post is an affiliate link, but if the product is on Amazon, it is.
I will never ask you to buy anything I recommend, but if you enjoy this post and would like to share it with a friend who may be looking for items to put in their Bible study basket, it would be greatly appreciated!
A Storage Basket
Starting us off, you’ll need a basket. I love my current basket!
It may be a basic white decorative basket I got for Mother’s Day, but it meets my needs perfectly.

As you can tell, it holds two massive Bibles, my thin NIV, my prayer journal, and all the pens and highlighters my little heart could want.
My Favorite Bibles
I will be posting a blog post soon that explains all the different translations of the Bible I use and how I use each of them (+ their pros & cons), but for now, here is a quick overview!

- Thomas Nelson Large Print, Red Letter NKJV Journaling Bible (my top pick)
- She Reads Truth Holmon Bible Publishers CSB Rose Gold Tabbed Journaling Bible (my 2nd favorite)
- Zondervan NIV Value Thinline Bible (my 3rd pick & easy to carry on the go)

Pens & Highlighters for Your Bible Study
If you’ve followed me for any amount of time, you know I’m an absolute sucker for good pens and highlighters. I honestly geek out over them.
This list is not comprehensive by any means, and if you have any recommendations, please tell me!
These are just a few of my favorites:
- Sharpie’s felt tip 0.4mm pens (top pick; I’ve never had them bleed through my thin Bible pages, unless you count the times I beared down too hard)
- Sharpie’s S-Gel 0.7mm pens (almost tied with the first, but they do show through thin pages more and can bleed)
- Pilot G-2 1.0mm pens (super smooth ink perfect for journaling, but they bleed through Bible pages; a thinner tip may fix that)
- Pen+Gear assorted color 0.7mm pens (not an affiliate link, I just like them for their smoothness and colored ink)
- Sharpie’s Clear View Highlighters (love the vibrancy, but I have noticed they show through thin pages pretty badly; pic below)

- Daily Grace Co. Pastel Bible Highlighters (not an affiliate link, I just have an older version of these and they’re great—they do have a learning curve though because of their “jelly” texture but no bleed and minimal shadowing!)
- Daily Grace Co. Muted Pastel Highlighters (just bought these three months ago, and they’re like regular highlighters—not “jelly”—and don’t bleed or shadow 😍)

As you can tell, I need recommendations for ballpoint pens. I’ve hated every ballpoint pen I’ve tried but my new church journal can’t tolerate gel ink.
A Good Journal for Church Notes & Prayers
If I could, I would try every journal I lay eyes on, but over the years, I have settled on one that is far superior than all the others.
My absolute favorite journal is from Moonster. I have their unlined heart journal and their lined tree journal. I love both equally! I’ve heard the cotton paper doesn’t erase well, but I don’t use pencils enough to know.

And for church notes, I am currently loving this journal from Walmart with stone paper (not an affiliate link; first picture below). It doesn’t work well with gel pens, which is a bummer, but I knew that going in.
Unfortunately, I don’t know if they’re going to come back into stock, so here is a similar stone paper journal from Amazon with good ratings (affiliate link), but the price isn’t nearly as good.

My other favorite journal right now is my husband’s imitation leather two-toned notebook (not an affiliate link; second picture) because no notebook is safe from me in my house. Also known as, if I forget my journal, my husband lets me borrow his. I’m not a monster.
Bible Studies & Books That Will Benefit Your Walk With God
I’m not much of a reader of Christian nonfiction up to this point in my life, but between my husband and I, we have compiled a small list of books that have helped us in our walks with God.
A great starting point is Daily Grace Co. Bible studies, but I’ll link to the ones I have used and love. I’m not affiliated with them; I just love every study I’ve bought!
- It Is Well | Anxiety Bible Study by Daily Grace Co.
- The Lord’s Prayer Bible Study by Daily Grace Co.
- Path to Purpose | Ecclesiastes Bible Study by Daily Grace Co.

- Live Fearless: a call to power, passion, and purpose by Sadie Robertson Huff
- Do Hard Things: a teenage rebellion against low expectations by Alex & Brett Harris (obviously great for teens!)
- Unless We Pray: The Hour is Late. God Has a Plan and This is It! by Todd Smith (changed the way my husband prays)
- The Pursuit of Holiness by Jerry Bridges
As I enter motherhood, I’m looking for more Bible studies and easy-to-read books to help me stay in the Word, so if you have any recommendations, please let me know!
The Ultimate Prize
While a Bible study basket is a good way to keep my stuff organized and in sight—so I read more often—no amount of highlighters or Bible translations can get me into heaven.
A single Bible is all someone truly needs to fall in love with Scripture and grow spiritually. There is beauty in simplicity.
Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.
1 Corinthians 15:58 (New King James Version)
We’re not running the race of life for the same reason as others. We run—pray, love, and work with our hands—for the Lord and the furtherance of His Kingdom.
Don’t you know that the runners in a stadium all race, but only one receives the prize? Run in such a way to win the prize. Now everyone who competes exercises self-control in everything. They do it to receive a perishable crown, but we an imperishable crown. So I do not run like one who runs aimlessly or box like one beating the air. Instead, I discipline my body and bring it under strict control, so that after preaching to others, I myself will not be disqualified
1 Corinthians 9:24-27 (Christian Standard Bible)
