Drifting Leaves: Autumn Challenge πŸ

Cold raindrops gently bounce off the windowpane, causing a shiver to crawl up my spine. The trees lining my long driveway are finally starting to change color and a soft breeze is making its way to my small town.

While fall means winter is coming, which is my least favorite season, I’m excited for all the cozy vibes!

In light of that building excitement, today is the perfect day to dive into this challenge.

I always love getting tagged for a challenge, but this one should be especially fun! Since Autumn is my husband’s favorite season (so much so, he married it *ba-dum-tss*), he’ll be joining me in answering today!

To whoever is reading this, you should grab a warm drink and cozy up with a blanket before continuing. πŸ˜‰

10 Cozy Questions For All The Fall Vibes

Thank you, Autumn Grace, for creating and tagging me for this fun challenge! Your name is quite suiting.

The rules are pretty simple:

  • Download the cover photo and use it for your post
  • Acknowledge the person who tagged you
  • Tag others and comment on their blog to let them know!
  • Slip into autumn vibes

1. If autumn isn’t your favorite season, what is? And if autumn is your favorite season, why?

Autumn (me): I absolutely love fall for the cozy vibes, colorful leaves, cute outfits, and all the food. I especially love a rainy Autumn day at home!

However, I struggle with saying Autumn is 100% my favorite season because I can’t regulate my body temperature very well.

For that reason, my favorite season might be late spring for it’s warmer temperatures.

Connor (my husband): It’s my favorite season because of the cooler weather, but the colors and the overall feeling autumn brings to the air adds to it.

The activities are also way better than any summer activities. Give me a corn maze, flannel, pumpkin patch, etc.

2. What is your favorite thing that you do each autumn?

A: Probably curling up with a blanket on the couch with hot apple cider in hand and a snack (bonus points if it’s apple-flavored or zebra popcorn), watching a cozy romcom.

C: Finally getting to wear a flannel!

3. What are a couple of your favorite autumn memories?

A: Honestly, more than anything, my favorite memories include going to an apple orchard with my big family.

We would go to this huge orchard and pick apples together and then end the adventure by buying the orchard’s homemade steaming hot apple cider doughnuts. We’d often leave with a gallon of their cold apple cider in hand and halfway sprung ankles from slipping on all the fallen apples.

There’s nothing better than those memories. I would love to remake them some year!

C: The year I got to go to the apple orchard with Autumn’s family, the first time we put up fall decorations in our house, and the time I went to a pumpkin patch and corn maze with my brother, Hunter, and sister-in-law, Katie.

That same night, we went to a park at midnight to have a pumpkin carving contest, and I accidently locked Autumn and I out of our car. We later got (kindly) kicked out of the park by a police officer. Come to find out, the park had closed at sundown.

4. What book most reminds you of the autumn? Movie?

A: Rachel Fordham’s novel A Lady in Attendance. It has the BEST fall vibes I’ve ever read.

C: The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown and the 1985 Garfield’s Halloween Adventure.

5. What is your favorite drink for this season?

A: If not my newfound love for Starbuck’s Pumpkin Latte, then it’s probably hot apple cider… Honestly, apple cider wins because it’s a classic.

C: Hot apple cider.

6. What is one new thing that you want to do this autumn?

A: I would love to go to our church’s fall event for the first time this year. They host fall-themed games and stuff, so that would be super exciting!

C: I’m just excited to fully enjoy the season at home because generally we’re traveling this time of year. This is the first October we haven’t been out of town.

7. Do you decorate for the season? If so, how? If not, how come?

A: YES! I love all things autumn decor, NOT Halloween decor. Halloween stuff freaks me out. πŸ˜‚ The only Halloween decor I might use is a carved pumpkin just because it’s a fun activity to do.

Give me all the colorful leaf garland, tiny pumpkins, and cozy font signs.

C: We do!

8. Thanksgiving is a couple of months away; what is your favorite way to celebrate? (I think most of my blogger friends are American. πŸ˜‚) If not, skip this one.

A: My favorite tradition is having the Macy’s parade blare on the TV even if no one is watching it. My brain can’t comprehend that it’s Thanksgiving unless it hears the announcer’s voice shouting over the excessively loud music at 11am (or is it 10am?).

C: Food. Just a good meal. It doesn’t have to be super elaborate.

9. What color most makes you think of autumn?

A: Pumpkin orange or anthocyanin, the pigment that makes leaves turn red.

C: Auburn or orange.

10. Type up a list of ten words or names (i.e. White Chicken Chili) that encapsulate the season of autumn for you.

A:

  • Apple cider
  • Apple cider doughnuts
  • Pumpkins
  • Hot soup (any kind)
  • Plaid
  • Fuzzy blankets
  • Lattes
  • Apple pie
  • Sweet potato casserole (or sweet potato pie, either one)
  • Fog 😍

C:

  • Fall leaves
  • Pumpkin spice
  • Apple cider
  • Flannels
  • Cozy evenings
  • Bonfires
  • Crisp mornings
  • Hunting season
  • Walks with coffee
  • Movie nights
