God’s Perfect Provision

A little over three months into our marriage, my husband and I moved into our house. The thing you should know about this house is that it’s a work-in-progress.

To name a few things:

  • The kitchen is only halfway painted; the paint that’s there is actually just primer.
  • Our shower is a trusty steel pot and a pump showerhead. (Just for the record, this is a pretty common method for off-griders, but we would like to upgrade at some point.)
  • As for furniture, we have a (wonderful) bed, two folding tables, and a futon with no cushion.

While we may have a long way to go, I love our little home. Not only is it full of young love and good food, but it’s also comfortable to me.

With hundreds of prayers poured out into and inside this house, I wholehearted feel God’s presence here. In this, I rest easy every night.

I know it may not seem like it to others, but God has blessed this house beyond measure.

What I’ve Been Learning About God’s Provision

Through much prayer, when we needed a shower, God provided a way for us to get our hands on a cultured marble stand-up shower for less than half the original price.

Its color may not be our first pick, but it’s solid and beautiful all the same.

When we needed an oven, God provided a free one. The sellers told my husband that they were going to throw it out due to one of the burners not working, but they decided last minute to see if anyone could use it.

Our cute oven

My husband is pretty handy, so he knew how to fix the problem for pretty cheap, but once he brought it home, the burner had miraculously fixed itself.

I want it to be known that we had to WAIT for these things (thankfully, we had the time), but God showed up at the exact moment we truly needed them.

Through the act of faithfully waiting and praying with each step of this journey, God has been teaching me that He is my ultimate Provider.

When I think there is no way, He makes a way. My God provides everything I need at just the right time.

As I was writing this post, I read a devotional on the Glorify app. It explained that God not only provides for us, but He also sustains us.

This means that in our waiting, God is giving. If we truly lean on Him, we are strengthened by His Spirit. He holds us up! He helps us through!

The moral of the Story…

Oftentimes, we find ourselves losing faith in the Lord as we wait, but waiting doesn’t mean God isn’t paying attention.

Don’t give up in the in-between.

As Christians, we don’t have a free ticket through trials, but we do have victory over trials.

Check out these passages for more on this topic:

  • Habakkuk 3:17-19
  • Romans 5:3-5
  • James 1:2-3

You don’t have to have everything figured out.

You don’t have to be the hero in your story. That’s God’s role.

Simply said, avoid rushing your progress without God’s presence being involved.

Or as John 15:5-8 words it, anything done apart from God won’t go the way we desire it to.

As you pursue goals and do the best you can, seek God first. Faithfully pray for His will and earnestly wait for His provision. Whatever He sees fit for you, His beloved child, is worth waiting for.

A godly friend is worth waiting for.
God’s guidance in your career is worth waiting for.
A God-approved spouse is worth waiting for.

And when God comes through, even in the smallest of ways, BOLDLY REJOICE because your God is omnipresent and wonderous.

I’m not saying that you won’t have to make choices in life. What I’m saying is slow down, pray, and believe God is for you, not against you.

That our house is even here is a complete provision of God, because without Him, we never would have made it through the building process!
Your attitude through all this is so beautiful; God bless!
