When God tells me to do something, I’m often a stuttering Moses, a fearful Jonah, and sometimes a laughing Zechariah.
I truly believe God’s will is good for others, but it’s excruciating to believe His will is also good for me. This is the hardest part of my walk with God—having faith that miraculous things aren’t limited to strangers.
A couple weeks ago, we got some good news that had us shaking a bit (no, we’re not pregnant 🤪). We don’t know where this season will go, but we trust God has some tricks up His sleeves for us.
My Heavenly Father is so awesome that He gave me peace about this season of life before it was ever on the table, but my mind still circulates with worries here and there. Before my husband said a word about how he was feeling, I wondered if he felt unequipped or unworthy—the way I would feel if I were presented with the same opportunity.
This led to my next thought: God’s will is enough to sustain us. If God calls us to do something, He equips us with Himself. Maybe the Lord calls the scared and seemingly unequipped because His glory gets to shine brighter.
And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in needs, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ’s sake. For when I am weak, then I am strong.
2 Corinthians 12:9-10, NKJV
If you find yourself in a similar situation, called to something you feel unworthy of, rest in God’s will over your life. You will be refined by fire, but you will also be equipped with your heavenly Father’s perfect strength.
In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if need be, you have been grieved by various trials, that the genuineness of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes, though it is tested by fire, may be found to praise, honor, and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ, whom having not seen you love. Though now you do not see Him, yet believing, you rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory, receiving the end of your faith—the salvation of your souls.
1 Peter 1:6-9, NKJV
I know you’ve probably heard this message before, but I don’t want it to reach your ears without touching your heart.
If you need extra help figuring out where in the Bible to read to find comfort in your season of life, I made a list of Bible verses I go back to over and over. You can access them here!

I will always support you through the craziest of God’s ideas, Connor. Rest in the Lord’s promises. The greatest honor of my life is being led by you, closer to the Lord and away from my sassy spirit.
