My soul is in a quiet place.
A lot of big things have been happening in my husband’s and my life, and they all have me praising God while simultaneously driving me crazy. He answered our prayers, but He hasn’t answered every question that springs up. That isn’t a bad thing, despite it feeling lonely at times.
This morning, I started reciting all the sweet things God has done for me that He never had to do.
The way He sat with me in my depression, unnervingly constant and soothing. The way He didn’t answer my misguided pleas during that time.
The way He told me what was to come a year in advance… Simply so I had time to process.
The way He told me exactly what to say in my prayers for the sweetest, dearest people in my life.
The way He has given me peace in the big decisions we’ve had to make in the past 6 months for our marriage and my health.
The way He pushed our insurance through at the ER when–come to find out–I wasn’t even in the system.
All these things came speeding to my mind this morning, and I cried. A reprieve from the questions. Simply holy tears of praise.
Whether you’re crying today out of pain, grief, confusion, or thanksgiving, this is your reminder that, with God, even tears are sacred and holy.
Praise the Lord!
Psalm 146, NKJV
Praise the Lord, O my soul!
While I live I will praise the Lord;
I will sing praises to my God while I have my being.
Do not put your trust in princes,
Nor in a son of man, and whom there is no help.
His spirit departs, he returns to his earth;
In that very day his plans perish.
Happy is he who has the God of Jacob for his help,
Whose hope is in the Lord is God,
Who made heaven and earth,
The sea, and all that is in them;
Who keeps truth forever,
Who executes justice for the oppressed,
Who gives food to the hungry.
The Lord gives freedom to the prisoners.
The Lord opens the eyes of the blind;
The Lord raises those who are bowed down;
The Lord loves the righteous.
The Lord watches over the strangers;
He relieves the fatherless and widow;
But the way of the wicked he turns upside down.
The Lord shall reign forever—
Your God, O Zion, to all generations.
Praise the Lord!
