It’s funny how we see this Goliath standing in front of us and how our very bones become fear striken.
Why?
That’s what I ask. It may seem unbelievable to ask such a question. It’s obvious why. The Goliath is bigger than us, meaning it has to be stronger than us, right? Of course! When something is higher up than us, it has the upper hand. It’s simply the pattern of this life we live in. Although, it appears as if we’ve forgotten who invented this life; who has the upper hand of all things.
Some would refer to a Goliath as a mountain. Yes, we stand in the frightening shadow of the mountain that blocks our path. The path Jesus calls us to. Now think for a moment. Didn’t our Father in Heaven give us the gift of literal mountains to assist us in peering over great deep vallies? To watch the way the sun sends everything aglow upon a single kiss? Remarkably, we’ve spent decades sculpting the perfect camera to capture that Golden Hour. Have we succeeded?
No. A view like that is too priceless to be able to capture through lenses; no matter how complex they may be. The pictures are breathtaking, don’t get me wrong, but we can’t experience the glee of actually being there… Experiencing it for ourselves.
And until we see that Goliath as a challenge to climb over and stand atop of, we won’t feel the heart change God is trying to tether into us… How are we to go after God’s heart if we won’t allow Him to change our own? We have to be able to experience the climb with Him.
God desires to reveal a greatness for us, but we have to be like young David and “climb”. We have to stand up on overcome mountains to see how far we’ve come. Realizing that the only reason we’re there is due to our Father’s helping hand and strength that He gifted us with. We possess all the strength we need to travel about if it’s the way God calls us to go.
Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.’
